Story Set 1

Wally walked into the kitchen on Thanksgiving and froze.

He asked, “Mom! What are you doing?”

“I am preparing your favorite stuffing.”

“Why are you shoving it in there?”

“That is where I always cook it, honey.”

Wally turned and ran back to tell his little brother.

“Beaver wake up, you won’t believe what I just saw?”

Rubbing his eyes, Beaver asked, “What?”

“Mom is putting stuffing in the wrong end of the Turkey.”

“You’re foolin’ me.”

“Scout’s honor, I saw her putting it in the bottom end.”

“Why?”

“I don’t know.”

“What should we do Wally?”

“Don’t eat the stuffing.”

“I better check with Mom.”

“NO! Don’t say nothin’ she might get mad at me for telling you.”

Hit the Ball,Jason

It was a pretend football

On Sunday afternoon, all the Grandkids would visit Oma Petra.

Jason and his cousins would have fun playing.

Jason's cousin asked, “Do you want to play hit the ball with us?”

"How do you play it?" asked Jason.

Wally told him, "It's easy. You stand between me and Beaver. When I throw the ball to him, you need to hit it before he can catch it.

They started playing, and Jason could never hit the ball, and his cousins would yell, “YOU MISSED DOOFY — YOU MISSED!”

Jason got mad because he could never hit the ball. He yelled, "IT AIN'T FAIR! You guys are cheating."

They yelled back, "We ain't cheatin' ~ you're a Dinky Doofus."

Jason screamed so loud that Oma Petra heard him.

She came running out of the kitchen and shouted, “JASON — JASON ARE YOU OK?”

“OMA! OMA! They are cheating. They won’t let me hit the ball! ”

“What ball? I don’t see a ball.”

“It’s a pretend ball!”

“Can't you just pretend you have your own ball?"

“NO! I want to hit the real pretend ball!”

Wally's Mom, Petralina, came running into the living room and shouted.

“STOP RIGHT NOW!"

Wally and Beaver froze.

"You are both acting like a couple of Doofus bullies. Stop picking on your little cousin. Don’t make Oma mad. Maybe we should go home right this minute. Is that what you boys want?”

They drooped their heads and slowly moved them from side to side.

After everything went back to normal, Jason and his cousins ran off to play.
