My birth name is LuMar Lee
Lu comes from my dad’s name,
Lumir.
Mar comes from my Mom’s name,
Margaret.
Being their first child, my parents added Lee and liked the sound. During my school years and adult life, I used the name Lee.
I started using LuMarLee as a nom de plume when I started publishing stories on the Medium.com website.
I discovered my dad's name had been the masthead on a magazine published in Prague, 1851.
My Website Design Story
When I started working on my design, I tried making my website look the same as the other commercial sites I saw online.
I tried it. I didn't like how it looked. I wanted mine to be different.
I was using Google's Sites App, which doesn't require coding. However, I can insert HTML coding to add traditional website design features.
I watched a lot of YouTube videos to learn the basics of using the Sites App.
I decided to make something that looked different and would fit nicely on the screen of a cell phone.
After many attempts, this is the current design I settled on in June of 2025.
I am a storyteller first and a website designer with ideas that are comfortable for me, and I hope you agree.
The ShortClipWriter Story
When our Grandchildren were young, I wrote stories and poems. I would send them to our daughter-in-law via email, and she would read them to her children. After one story session, I received a reply, "The kiddos liked your short clip."
Short clip? Hey, I like writing short clips. Maybe I can be a ShortClipWriter.
I checked to see if there was a website using the name ShortClipWriter. I quickly searched and found none. I bought the name from Google's Domain service for twelve US Dollars.
I signed up for an email account named ShortClipWriter@Gmail.com and started building a site that was free, and the only cost to me was my time.
